Ever look at your old 1970s bathroom cabinet and wonder if you could replace it inexpensively? Well I'm here to tell you that you don't need to replace it! You can make it look just like this one for $250! I'll run through the steps next:
Step 1: Remove the countertop
Step 2: Drill out the back side of your cabinet doors and install these hidden hinges

This bathroom cabinet is old so it was only 30" tall and the new standard for bathroom cabinet heights is 36" so we decided to build up the height.
So the Step 3: Build up the height by adding 2x4 all along the edge of the cabinet.

Step 4: Cover up the 2x4s with decorative trim. We had some leftover trim in our barn that we used because the former owner of our house was a woodworker. I found this Trim from Home Depot that would give you the same look!
Step 5: Add decorative trim to the edges of the cabinet doors to give them more character and dimension. You can see below at the "before" picture, there's 4 doors, but I wanted it to look like there was drawers on the sides so we installed decorative trim around the end doors to make them look like drawers. You can find decorative trim for around the edges Here

Step 6: Install the countertop. We went with a butcher block countertop because I liked how the wood accents warmed up the space and it was easier to DIY than laminate countertops for us. Here's the butcher block that we used: Link
Step 6: Prime & Paint. The paint color that I used for the final product is Benjamin Moore 1567 Night Train. We had some leftover that I used for this cabinet in order to save on cost.
Step 7: Install Hardware. I wanted this cabinet to have a vintage-y, traditional look so I went with cute little knobs everywhere (even on my fake drawer at the bottom). You can find my knobs Here
I had a sink leftover from a job I had worked on years ago, and they worked perfectly here! The sink color I have is discontinued if that tells you how long I've been holding onto it, but here's a link to the white color: Link The faucet that we used is a cheap one that I got from a big box store that I'm not going to link because we're having issues with it and I don't want to recommend you buy it - I'll touch more on this later on Instagram!
Check out the picture of this bathroom from the listing photos online before we bought our house! Can't miss the matching blue sink, tub and toilet!

And here we are today!

I hope this inspires you to breathe a whole new life into an old bathroom cabinet that you may have! Thanks for following along!
